Food poisoning outbreaks happen every month. Food poisoning is a very unpleasant condition. 

 

People, who suffer from it, can have diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, headaches/fever and stomach cramps.  It happens because you have eaten or drunk contaminated food. Food Hygiene is many things, but one definition that is used breaks food hygiene into three distinct areas as follows:

 

PROTECTING: food from risk of contamination, including harmful bacteria, poisons and foreign bodies.

 

PREVENTING: any bacteria present multiplying to an extent which would result in the illness of consumers or the early spoilage of the food.

 

DESTROYING: any harmful bacteria in the food by thorough cooking or processing.
